Cloud technology (cloud computing)

Cloud computing is the technology of providing computer resources as an online service via the Internet. Users can access computing power, data storage and software without having to buy and maintain their own infrastructure.

One of the biggest advantages of cloud computing is that there is no need to purchase, configure and maintain physical server hardware, as this is the responsibility of the cloud provider providing the service. In simple terms, cloud computing is a way to use computers and software that are located somewhere on the Internet rather than on your local computer. This allows you to access powerful resources in the cloud without investing in them.

Cloud technologies are divided into 3 main categories according to the level of access: Public cloud – allows any user to order services and simultaneously access the IT infrastructure of a cloud provider. The cloud is managed and maintained by its owner. Private cloud – control, maintenance and operation of the cloud is possible only by one subscriber.

The infrastructure of such a cloud is located on the territory of the user or a commercial data center. A hybrid cloud is an infrastructure that is created on the basis of a public and a private cloud. The physical equipment of the entire IT infrastructure is located at the user’s premises or in the data center, while the virtual part is hosted by the cloud provider. Cloud technologies are also divided into three main types based on the type of service: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is the provision of computing resources such as virtual servers, networks, and storage as online services by a cloud provider.

Customers can use IaaS resources to run their own programs, networks, and other systems. Software as a Service (SaaS) is the provision of software as an online service by a cloud provider. Users can use the software without having to purchase, install, and maintain it on their own computer. Platform as a Service (PaaS) is the provision of a platform for developing and deploying applications. Users can use PaaS platforms to build and run their own applications without having to own and manage infrastructure.
